The Lift a Life Foundation is proud to partner with the Dare to Care Kid’s Café to open a Community Kitchen that will feed thousands of hungry kids each week. The hot, healthy meals will be provided to kids in after-school programs all over Kentuckiana.
Previously, each after-school program had to have a commercial kitchen to feed their kids. With the Community Kitchen, however, meals will be prepared in a central location, allowing several more children to be fed. The Community Kitchen will cook and serve 1,000 meals per day.
The Lift a Life Foundation awarded a three-year, $1.5 million grant to support the Dare to Care Community Kitchen. This grant is the largest family foundation grant ever made to fight hunger in Kentuckiana.
“It is unacceptable that even one child could go hungry in our community,” said David C. Novak, Chairman and CEO, Yum! Brands, Inc., and Lift a Life founder. “Dare to Care Food Bank plays a vital role in our community, and we are proud to support their efforts to open the new Community Kitchen and more than double the number of meals for hungry children.”
