Louisville Forum gives Fluer De Lis award to Novak family
Novak family received a big honor Wednesday evening. David Novak, Wendy Novak and Ashley Novak Butler received the 38th annual Fleur De Lis award from the Louisville Forum for their work in giving back to the community.
Now retired, David and Wendy Novak created the "Wendy Novak Diabetes Institute" at Norton Hospital. She has had Type-1 diabetes since she was 7 years old.
"I have two incredible parents, who have instilled in me a core belief that every person can make a difference in the life of another," Ashley said. "That's why we chose the name we did, the Lift A Life Foundation. Its words speak to our mission."
David led the way to consolidate fast food companies, including KFC, into the Yum Brands Corporation.
He also convinced the board to locate its global headquarters in Louisville in the 90's.
Now retired, David and Wendy created the "Wendy Novak Diabetes Institute" at Norton Hospital. She has had Type-1 diabetes since she was 7 years old.
"When you get diabetes, its very challenging and very scary for families," David said. "And we're impacting thousands of families now, we're doing such good work here, such great research, we see this moving beyond Louisville."
David also hosts the successful podcast called "How Leaders Lead" and has interviewed everyone from the found of Home Depot to CBS Sports Broadcaster Jim Nantz, and retired quarterback Tom Brady.
